Based on the concept there is a poem in everybody’s heart this project has brought together an amazing group of women who have been involved in every aspect of the process. In partnership with Rosie Carnall, creative artist the dream of publishing a book has become a reality. Described by someone taking part as gentle, nourishing and life affirming. Women, Leadership and Community building at it’s best.
In early 2025 I sat with a friend in the Green Estate, Sheffield reflecting on the knowledge I was about to be made redundant. I felt broken and my confidence had been rocked. This was a monumental moment when things started to change and Poem in Your Heart became a tiny glimmer. You can find out more about this in my blogs (add links)
The journey from that point has been unbelievable. An amazing group of women have created 54 poems and got involved in every other step of the process to publish them in a book. When the women were asked to provide three words to describe the project. The top word was Liberating. That word alone tells it’s own story.
The book launches at The Green Estate on 10 July 2026. The place where I started to believe again, there is something very special about the story going full circle.
This is a not for profit book. All proceeds go to Mums In Need, a Sheffield charity supporting women recovering from coercive relationships. The connection between a book celebrating women’s leadership voices and a charity supporting women who had their voices taken from them is not accidental. It is the whole point.
An exhibition that includes 12 of the poems from the book is on display at The Art House in Sheffield from 19 June to 31 August 2026. It also provides a beautiful space to write your own poem on leadership.
